My name is Amy Sarah Lilley, I live in Newark on Trent, UK with my husband and naughty puppy. Although my degree is in English, I have always considered myself creative, and so used the opportunity presented by a year off after uni to really explore my creative side. In this time I began making and selling headbands on eBay, and when I found out about Etsy I felt inspired to try my hand at other things too so joined straight away. Supporting Our Troops

About a month ago I got the idea in my head that I need to really send these brave soldiers something to keep their spirits up. Not being a war supporter but a big people supporter, I felt if there was anything I could do, I should do it.

Since I basically have nothing I can send right now, I came up with this. I am sending different groups of soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq handmade cards so that they can send them back to their loved ones and friends at home. I'm also enclosing some personal letters of support.

I am a self-educated visual artist and have been drawing ever since I can remember. I am most inspired by children, which is reflected in the majority of my work. I usually start out each sketch with some theme in mind but during the course of creating the picture changes or something alters and guides me in another, though not always different, direction. drama, drama, and other stupid things for people who don't have a life to call their own!

I thought I would just pass along some serious information regarding a sock puppet account holder on several sites. This person is personally going around trying to destroy Zibbet and Jonathan's reputation. Unfortunately, they are now stalking me and trying to make me their next target. As a lot of you know I have been selling online/offline for 11 years and I have 4 successful Etsy shops. I would NEVER do anything that wasn't supportive to the handmade community as a whole.

On Etsy this person is known as CellBlockTango and they are also on Twitter and many other sites.

My advice would be to avoid getting into any sort of altercation online w/this person. I don't want anyone else sucked into their drama/slander.

Where do I start? Well, I've been making jewelry off and on since I was a teenager. I was always happy to give some to relatives and friends. But they would always tell me I should try selling it. So I tried a few different venues, and someone suggested Etsy. So I decided to open an Etsy shop.

The arrangement they have is really cool and the shop set-up is user friendly. It took a few tries, but I did it. Now I'm just waiting for my first real sale! (sold a couple of things to relatives - does that count? LOL!

What better way to return to features than to view these beautiful pieces of jewelry!

Thank you to all my loyal readers, friends and supporters. Sometimes life is tough and ya just don't have time to blog. But I promise I'm thinking of you and hopefully when the Etsy hubbub calms down and my new shops are settled, I can get back to what I love.

Hi to my fabulous readers, sorry for the little break in posting. Even I get overwhelmed believe it or not. Anyhoo, let's get down to the nitty gritty regarding these Etsy changes.

So what the heck did they change?

And god knows what else.So here are my personal thoughts on all this cr*p. I think that the new shop button is a complete joke. If I had never been to Etsy and I saw this wee little button on the top right, I would think, "why do I want to shop on a site that's completely filled to the brim w/stuff, and then just a tiny button for actual buying?" Blech, next.The Etsy header is blah like always. The changes were silly and minimal. People almost died from migraines and possibly developed epileptic seizures from it. Not well thought out and the forums of course ranted and raved. I just think it's ugly and boring, business as usual from Etsy.Future changes? Wait and see I always say. Etsy is not known for fast moving thinkers and I would estimate that their time line of 2 months really equals Sept. in the concept of regular non-admin time. And what the heck happened to Rokali's baby "Parachutes?" Are we to be deprived of his immature, self serving drivel on there too?Personally, I have nothing to complain about on Etsy. Views are sh*tty for me, but sales are really consistent. I haven't spent any money on advertising for weeks and I think things are moving along as usual.I'm outty!!T♥

A stay-at-home Mother of two seeks solace in creating one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry using both new and vintage components. With two very active little boys at home, I very much look forward to the quiet time I have in the evenings and on the weekends (thanks to my husband) where I can be inspired in my craft room. I'm been crafty since I can remember. Being raised in a family where there were painters, quilters, bakers, seamstresses, and florists, I found my niche in beading when I was just 11 years old. As the majority of the custom requests I received over the past few years have been wedding related, I recently launched a shop on Etsy specializing in wedding jewelry and accessories - SweetBriarBridal.etsy.com. I'm inspired by vintage jewelry, and as such often incorporate vintage elements from pieces that are broken or outdated. I just LOVE pouring through antiques shops and fairs looking for hidden gems - whether it's a vintage rhinestone clasp or brooch, glass pearls, or fabulous heavy crystal beads. As such, many of my pieces feature "something old, something new" for the bride-to-be and her wedding attendants...and sometimes, even "something blue." I have been making things since I was a little girl playing with macaroni noodles. Over the years I have done everything from painting to soap making and am really into using anything recycled. My favorite craft that I have discovered is making jewelry from recycled cans and used gift cards. I am a soda addict and everyone who is around me knows it! So, this craft is perfect for me. My funniest experience with this craft is asking people for their cans. People look at me strangely sometimes but I explain to them what I do with the cans and they at least pretend to be ok with it :) I have to ask my rowdy male neighbors for their beer cans since I myself don't drink and they think it is awesome!

bio: I've always been an animal person, and I think if you truly care about animals, you can't go long in life without getting involved in rescuing them. I started out with taking intake calls and helping matchmake dogs and cats with responsible homes for Independent Animal Rescue. We got calls about other animals, too...rats seemed to be especially in need, and we had a hard time finding anyone who would foster these little guys until adoptive homes could be found. Shortly thereafter, a desperate friend showed up at my door with a pair of rats who had been mistreated by a pet store and were brought to the vet where she worked for help. How could I say no. Then, at the vet kennel where I worked, I somehow found myself becoming the resident "rat girl" who was willing to help out when people abandoned their small pets. Over time, this grew into Raleigh Rodent Rescue, which I ran for six years, helping find foster homes and permanent ones for mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, degus, chinchillas, brazillian opossums, even the occasional bird or non-rodent-eating reptile. With the help of some fantastic volunteers, we helped about 100 animals a year, and worked to spread the message that buying animals from pet stores isn't just bad for dogs and cats, it's just as harmful and sometimes worse, for small animals and exotics as well. Most people we encountered never even knew there was a better option, or that these species end up left in shelters (and unfortunately, put down in them) just the same as dogs and cats. We did our best to help out our local shelters and animal control by taking as many of these little guys into foster care as we responsibly could and we met some pretty fabulous, caring people who adopted from us.
Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with a genetic spine disease that causes intense, continual pain and I had to start thinking about how I could take care of myself while taking care of the animals I love, including those closest to me, my own pets who need me more than anyone. With the help of my friend Kay her impressive group of volunteers at Carolina Pet Rescue, Raleigh Rodent Rescue was merged with her organization so I could continue fostering animals and helping the way I can without compromising my health or the time my own animals need from me.
Scrappy Rat Designs is a creative way I can share with others the animals I have known and the deep responsibility and love I feel for their welfare. I hope when people visit my store they can see this in the cards and other items I design, and that they can communicate their own compassion to everyone they mail them to. I often donate card sets to different animal rights and rescue organizations for use in their fundraising, and I frequently offer the price of items or percentages of my sales to animal protection groups. One item that is always sold with 100% of the profit I make donated is my cookbook, Yummy for Dogs, filled with loads of recipes I've developed for dog treats and special occasion meals. During the "research and development" phase, I was lucky to have an abundance of volunteer tasters among the dogs at the kennel where I worked, and later among the dogs I trained working for Sylvie's K9 Solutions. My other passion is writing, both in the form of non-fiction (including several pet columns in various magazines) and poetry. I also have just had my fourth book of poetry published, which will be available shortly via my site, as well as that of my publisher, Foothills Press.

Brick Bracelets

The obsession with these brightly colored plastic pieces began as a child
at home in New Jersey. I did not touch them again until about two years ago,
at the age of 33, when I transitioned from creating paper mosaic pieces into
LEGO. I was really attracted to the pure, consistent color of each LEGO
brick and how it would translate to my graphic style. What makes these
pieces unique is the fact that they are all created by hand by myself, a
LEGO artist. I use my knowledge and experience as a designer to
conceptualize and plan out my works and have displayed many of my LEGO
mosaic and sculpture pieces throughout New York. In the end I wanted to
create a jewelry and gift line that was fun and affordable for people that
enjoy my work and of course LEGO. I thought many people could relate to
these designs and get a similar taste of childhood with its simplicity,
innocence and fun. I think many of us would love to have a piece of that
back.

Everythings coming up Alice!!

And OMG I couldn't be happier! Tim Burton has now regained my enthusiasm w/this one. Not the biggest fan of his dark side, think the movie "9". But he seems to have really incorporated what we all love from the Alice story into a fabulous and whimsical extravaganza.

Wanted to share w/you the lovely ad free Disney Trailer but apparently Disney is pulling rank on us again and forcing me to share this crappy one w/an apparent ad. Which I haven't clicked on, so I would think twice before you do.

I also wanted to comment on the HORRIBLE Avril Lavigne disaster of a song that will try and ruin your Alice experience.

I created this shop after searching for ornaments to give my youngercousins. Each Christmas, I gift each of my young cousins a specialornament. It's my little tradition. I was tired of paying for ornamentsthat I didn't really like and weren't very personal. So began the lightbulbs. I made one for each, and with their own magical creature. Thisidea stemmed from my love for Harry Potter and owls (of course). Aftera few people saw the bulbs, they encouraged me to try and sell them toothers. Voila! The Enchanted Owl was born. I've enjoyed painting forpeople all across the United States, and was very surprised at myornaments' popularity. I hope that my success is even greater in 2010!

Natalie is a twentysomething who has lived in South Carolina her entirelife (except for a three month stint in London one summer). She lovesreading, planning her own wedding in May of this year, and creating allsorts of crafty things. She got her start in paper products at the ripeage of nine when she took it upon herself to create a newspaper, namedThe Family Gazette. It mostly featured copied stories from herScholastic Weekly Reader, but her family encouraged thisentrepreneurial strain in the hopes that it would develop Natalie'sinterest in reading and writing.

And boy, did it work! Severalyears later, Natalie went to college and received her degree in EnglishLanguage and Literature, with her sights set on law school. Law schoolonly lasted a semester and a few weeks for this literature lover, whodecided to take some time off from school to sort out her life post-lawschool. To pass the time (and to help pay the rent!), Natalie went towork at a small stationery store down in Charleston in order to becloser to her parents. For the next nine months, Natalie learned theins and outs of working with stationery of all sorts: notecards,birthday invitations, correspondence cards, address labels, stickersand wedding invitations. Within a few months, she became the "go togirl" whenever a customer needed to order wedding invitations.

Ninemonths after starting the job, Natalie returned to school full time tobegin her master's in English Language and Literature. She returned tothe little store during all her breaks from school, where she tried tolearn as much as possible about stationery and how to improve upon theproducts already available. In her spare time during the school year,she would make stationery sets and invitations for her friends andfamily; the feedback she received from these ventures made her realizethat she wanted to share her creations with others. And Crescent MoonPapers was born! Two months later, Natalie is working to expand allparts of her budding shop. She hopes to continue offering more productsas she prepares to graduate from grad school this May and far beyond.

ALL Fur Is Bad:( And I'm going to tell you why..

I've been meaning to do this for awhile now but I've been so preoccupied w/home schooling my son, opening a new shop, and learning new intense graphic designing. Now I assume we all love the cute little animals, (and the not so cute ones too, I.E. rodents that lived in my garage:( So I'm sure none of my wonderful readers out there is a fur wearer/supporter. But did you know that it's also bad to wear vintage fur? Yes blog fans, it's true. Vintage fur is what keeps those furriers/restorers in business. Without new purchases of fur and old fixer uppers, what would these guys have to do? So I urge you to donate ALL of your old fur, (unless you plan to hide in your house and wear it), to...

Coats For Cubs

This wonderful organization will make sure your old fur is put to good use! The furs are sent to animal rehabilitation centers and used as surrogate mothers. And if that sh*t doesn't warm your heart then there is no hope for you:*(

So another thought I had about fur. Recently, I've been wearing some boots and moccasins that have faux fur on them. I was worried though that people might think I'm promoting fur or a real loser for sporting 'em! Should we even wear fake fur? My name is Alyce Templeton and I live with my husband of 43 years inthe town of Elkton, MD. We are the proud parents of an adult daughterwho currently works as an elementary school media specialist. I retiredfrom teaching when our daughter was born. however I still teach atlocal quilting shops. I have been sewing since I was 5 and my love offabrics grew from the scraps I was allowed to play with from the onset.My Mom made dance recital costumes in the late 40's and 50's. So I gotto play with lots of glittery glitzy fabrics.

For many years Idesigned,made and taught the art of whimsical cloth doll making.However severe osteoarthritis on my hands has prevented me from doingthat. So I have turned my attentions to these fabric postcards. Theyare done entirely by machine and are so much fun to do. I have alwaysbelieved that special people deserve special cards - ones that are notmass produced. When you send one of these cards, the recipient isn'tthe only one who enjoys it. The mailman does too! I know fromexperience.

My other business is making one of a kind clothingfor the 18" doll. If I am sewing, I am relaxing. When we travel, thesewing machine has its own place in the car.

I have been a bead artist since I was 18 years old (almost 6 years). Ifound my passion for beaded flowers when i came across someone sellingone on ebay and I had to know more. So, I did a lot of research andbought a lot of books to show me how. Now I am an avid beader. I lovecreating new patterns and ideas and pushing the limits as to what I cando with them. My mother, who passed away in 2000 from lung cancer was abig part of my decision to create these flowers. She had a huge passionfor real flowers and spent the majority of her days outside tending toher garden. Roses were her favorite flower and when she died we put herashes with her beloved roses. I never had the talent she did at growingthe real thing but me, being the creative type I now have the abilityto make flowers that will never wilt or die.

Just a little catch up here to let you all know I read all your supportive emails, convos, etc. regarding the start up of my new business and I love/appreciate you all♥ Ironically, after opening last week jewelry sales went crazy! So remember kids, when things get slow, adding another business on will only improve your chances of being swamped w/work!! lol

I'm really enjoying my new shop and have purchased/made/public domained so many exciting graphics! I love the vintage, odd, and shabby chic and when they combine it's pure magic.

When you visit my shop you will probably notice one huge difference right off the bat. I work in themes and make all of my banners special little pieces of art. Most can be used for any type of shop and I don't design them too specifically for a certain type of shop. Let's face it, the jewelry shop is overflowing and my graphics definitely need some space to breathe. I have been selling avatar/banner sets on Etsy for years but only lately have I found the time to really get down to biz w/it. I am planning on taking some courses in advanced Photoshop and logo design so stay tuned for some over the top graphics! And FYI I realized after I picked my new name that some of you might think that these are XXX graphic images, knowing me like you do. But hey, we all take our chances on Etsy don't we? I think the first time anyone picks up a barbed needle and pokes at thewool they are hooked. And the adventure begins. It almost seems magicalto take a flat piece of wool and poke it into the shape you want. Iespecially like to create baby animals. Something about the innocencein their expression.

In addition to needle felting I have abackground in graphic design and worked in that capacity in theprinting industry for 13 years. I attended the University of WestVirginia as an art major and art, in some form, has always been a partof my life.

I have, by request, 16 pieces in Artspring, a newart gallery in Silver Springs, Maryland and an ornament of mine will befeatured in the next edition of Better Homes and Gardens HolidayOrnament Magazine.

Born and raised in upstate New York and love it. Taught for years andduring that time, started a small home business (in 1986) as a sideinterest. My dream was to create an "old country store" within my home.Thus my love of all things old, vintage.
To fill the "store" in myhome, I learned to make soap, candles, bath and body products, greetingcards, played with polymer clay and taught myself how to make jewelry.I played with collage and started doing altered books. My goal was tohave a place that was more than just a store, a place that people couldcome and just spend hours looking at stuff. I've filled it with allkinds of antiques and old store stock for visual interest. Started outthinking I'd use only one or two rooms and today it takes up nine plushallways upstairs and downstairs. And I had to have an additional roombuilt just to house my jewelry and paper supplies!
Oh yeah, theother thing is that all the stuff here has to be made by familymembers. Although I'm the only one who has a Etsy shop, my Mom, Dad andsister have all contributed their own creative energies to the shophere in King Ferry. Kind of a family affair.
I've retired and amabsolutely loving it! More time to try all kinds of new projects. Andan more than willing to do custom orders if I'm able.

I've loved science since I was a little kid, whycephalopods in particular I don't know they just really appeal to me. Ialso have a strange sense of humor which I guess explains things likemy platypus and coelocanth ornaments. Most of my work in sculpted byhand from polymer clay so each one is unique.

Eventually Iplan to expand the range of pieces that I do. One idea is to do aCthulhu themed set of cameos, a higher end line in silver clay, and afew other ideas.
